'Soft tapping' sound Blomberg BRFB0900: 24 Inch Built-in Bottom-Freezer Refrigerator

Our Blomberg built-in bottom-freezer refrigerator has suddenly developed a ‘tapping’ sound (not terribly loud but bothersome nonetheless) ostensibly coming from the bottom of the appliance. The appliance works perfectly. The tap frequency is about a couple every second. It continues for 10-15 minutes, every 30 minutes, and goes on all day long–but I can’t say the timing is consistently that way. It’s more prominent on hot days (80F+). Virtually disappears on cooler days (75F-). In my opinion, the sound does not resemble a faulty relay…specially with it coming and going with temperatures. But what do I know!

I have difficulty triggering it by leaving either fridge or freezer door open. I’m also not sure if it associated with when the compressor kicks in…I really can’t tell.

Any hypotheses on what might be the cause is very welcome!

Mo

American Retro Coke Cooler, Need small refrigerator help.

I have a small coke cooler box made by American Retro. It had a Zel compressor that died, so I picked up a similar compressor by Emraco Model # FF8.5HBK that runs on R134a. I have a few concerns about the replacement. I will be replacing the dryer tube and adding an access valve at the same time. Here are my questions:

  1. What oil do I add? The manufacturere says use 9+ ounces of ISO 22. I cannot find any oil with that rating.
  2. How do I determine the exact amount of refrigerant to add? There is no tag whatsover with fill specifications or pressure.
  3. At what pressure should it be operated?

If there are any specifics I can find, please let me know. The manufacturer is in China and the owners manual or info from manufacturer is a no-go.

Thanks in advance!!

Sub Zero 532 Controller Issue?

hi, i have a old Sub Zero 532 refrigerator/freezer at home. Recently it starts to have issues in the freezer part that sometimes the freezer door suddenly cannot be closed. So once it happens, the freezer will stop working. We get a service guy coming in one day – he said it is due the controller being bad. See attached photo (first) – right now when it happens, I can use a small screwdriver to twist on the back of the black box. (there is a hole in the middle) Then the freezer immediately start to work and after a few min, the freezer door can be close properly. (looks like inside the door edge, that part become heated and magnetic) I think maybe I can buy a replacement and fix this by myself. So I found the controller part number from the old manual, which is 3012670 and ordered one from ebay. Here is what I received. (second) it looks quite different from the original one though – can someone advice the possible issue here? Can I use the one I received to replace the old one? the refrigerator is so old and the one I get from ebay is actually the only thing I found online with that part number, but i did not realize it could looks very different from the original one. thanks!

690F Sub Zero ice maker not making enough ice – adjustment screw has no affect

I’ve replaced the ice maker on our sub zero several times in the past 15 years. Before the recent ice maker failure, we’d noticed that it didn’t seem to be as productive. It finally failed last week and I replaced it with a spare. I found that the new ice maker was only producing three cubes at a time. The water level adjustment screw didn’t seem to have any affect, so I purchased another ice maker and it has the same problem.

At this point, I used a jumper to manually start a harvest cycle with the ice maker partially removed, and captured the water in a container. It only had 42 cc’s instead of the normal 100-110. Note: The fill cycle lasted about 7 seconds.

I assume this fill problem has been going on for a while, and we’ve not noticed since the kids are now out of the house.

Any ideas on what “upstream” part or component might be causing the problem? Dual Water Valve?

Thanks,
Don

IRT184300 Inglis fridge fridge stopped cooling and freezer freezing

Hello. classic came home from a trip and the fridge freezer was not working.
It has power lights fans, i put a 3in1 in compressor works.
the top corner of the evaporator coil freezes for 5 seconds then melts.
If i hold the copper end with the small copper wire coming out of it on the upper corner
it warms up from the heat of my fingers then causes the 5 second freeze again.
every aprox 5 mins the coil will freeze again the melt.
It seems to me that there is a thermostat where i hold it or a timer issue.
any ideas.
Thanks
