I have a 2011 Emerson 2.8 cu. ft. compact refrigerator in fine shape, which was running well until a few weeks ago, when I noticed the compressor was cycling on more often. The compressor motor now runs all the time, such that the compressor is very hot to the touch, but the coil is not cool at all.
I suspect that somewhere along the way a leak developed (it did sit unused in a garage for a year) and the refrigerant is bye-bye. A new 2.8 unit costs $109 (on sale at Target).
Is it more cost-effective to put this one in the landfill and get myself a new one? Seems a shame that something only 6 years old is kaput.
Thanks for any advice.
